Arai Yakushi Park Wading Pool is a free water-play spot in Nakano Ward's Arai Yakushi Park. In 2026 it operates from Saturday, July 18 to Sunday, August 16, from 10:00 to 16:00, running in two sessions: 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-16:00. The pool covers 52.6 square meters and is about 35cm deep, making it especially spacious among the wading pools in Nakano Ward, with room to play freely even on busy days. The water is tap water, changed daily and managed with chlorine, so it is safe from a hygiene standpoint as well. Being located right next to Arai Yakushi Baishoin, this park has the unique appeal of letting you combine a temple visit with water play in one continuous outing. Admission is free.

Tips

It closes on rainy days and when the water temperature is 22C or below. Check the operating status on Nakano Ward's official website or the on-site signage before you head out. It is closed from 12:00 to 13:00 for the water change. A depth of 35cm can reach chest height on a small child who sits down, so keep a close eye on them. Bodies cool down after getting out of the water, so bringing something to wear over swimsuits is reassuring. Having children wear water shoes helps prevent injuries to their feet.

Best time to visit

Enter at 13:45, and you can play for over 2 hours until closing at 16:00.
