About this spot

Katsushika Hokusai, who enchanted the world with his 'Thirty-Six Views of Mount Fuji,' spent most of his life in the Ryogoku area. Inside the striking silver-gleaming building, interactive displays and a full-scale replica of his studio keep children engrossed. The permanent collection is compact, so even as fatigue sets in toward closing time, you can enjoy it comfortably.

Tips

The permanent collection is free for middle school students and younger, offering family-friendly admission prices. There's a playground at the adjacent Midoricho Park (緑町公園), perfect for cooling down after viewing.

Best time to visit

Takes about 60 minutes. Early evening before closing tends to be less crowded.
