About this spot

This covered shopping arcade runs east-west through central Utsunomiya. Thanks to its roof, you can walk in the shade even in summer, making it a perfect stroll to walk off lunch. Long-established shops line up alongside newer ones, and there is a plaza partway along the street, so simply walking through gives you a feel for present-day Utsunomiya. Events are sometimes held here on weekends, and stumbling upon one is part of the charm of a shopping street. It's also a convenient spot to pick up anything you're missing before water play.

Tips

Bicycles sometimes pass through, so hold small children's hands as you walk. Business days vary from shop to shop, so check ahead if you have a particular shop in mind. Lingering too long here will shorten your afternoon water play time, so aim to wrap up within 30 minutes to an hour.
