Petting Animal Plaza, Aguri no Oka (ふれあい動物広場あぐりの丘)

Flow of the course

About this spot

Aguri no Oka is an approximately 50-hectare agricultural park spread across the hilltop of Shikimi in northwestern Nagasaki City. Within it, the animal interaction area is home to goats, sheep, and guinea pigs that you can view over a fence or get up close and touch. Unlike a zoo, you don't need to walk around a large area, so even small children can spend time with the animals without getting tired. Being up on the hill, the view is open, and while watching the animals you can also see distant sea and mountain ranges. In the early morning, the animals are lively and there are fewer visitors, allowing for unhurried time together.

Tips

Admission and parking are both free. Be sure to wash your hands after touching the animals. The park grounds have some ups and downs, and there is a fair amount of walking between areas, so comfortable shoes are recommended. The content and timing of animal interactions can vary by day, so check the information board at the entrance on the day of your visit. Shade is limited, so it's best to carry a hat and drinks with you from the start.

Best time to visit

About 1 hour 10 minutes. Right after opening in the morning, the animals are active and visitor numbers are calm
