Waita Fureai Park Pool is a seasonal outdoor pool located within Waita Fureai Park in Oita City, open only in summer. In 2026 it operates from Monday, July 20 to Sunday, August 30, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. There are two pools: a 25m x 13m main pool with a depth of 1.1-1.3m for elementary schoolers practicing their swimming, and a shallow 0.6m children's pool for little ones who aren't yet used to the water — both in the same location. Best of all, admission is completely free. You can drop by as many times as you like during summer vacation, making it an easy, low-pressure spot whether it's your child's first outdoor pool experience or a place to practice swimming. Since it's located within the park, you can also rest in the shade of the trees after leaving the pool.

Admission is free, but whether the pool is open can change depending on weather and temperature, so check Oita City's official website before heading out. As a public pool, there are no shops or food stalls, so bringing your own drinks and snacks is essential. Shaded areas are limited, so don't forget hats, rash guards, and frequent breaks. Always follow the lifeguards' instructions.

Best time to visit

About 4 hours. Arriving after midday and staying until just before the 5:00 PM closing gives you plenty of time to enjoy.
