Kirishima Children's Pool is a 10m x 20m outdoor pool for children, open to the public by Miyazaki City. It has two depths, 30cm and 50cm, both shallow enough for small children to stand firmly. Its biggest appeal is that kids at the age where deeper pools feel uncertain can walk around and splash water on their own. Admission is free, and there's parking for 15 cars. In 2026 it's open from July 23 to August 24, from 10 a.m. to noon. The hours are short, but that length also happens to match a small child's attention span well. It's also open during the Obon holidays, so it works well for water play during a visit home.

It's open for only two hours, from 10 a.m. to noon, so arriving late leaves little time to play. Aim to arrive around 9:50 a.m. It's closed on Wednesdays. There's no shop, so be sure to bring your own drinks. Shade is limited, so bringing a picnic sheet and a hat to block the sun will help even small children feel comfortable. It may be closed on some days depending on the weather, so check the current status on Miyazaki City's official information before heading out.
