Yumotokan Mikawa Onsen (湯元館 三川温泉)

Flow of the course

About this spot

A small hot-spring area tucked in the mountains of Aga Town, with a handful of inns quietly standing together in a peaceful hot-spring village. Being off the beaten tourist path, it retains the authentic atmosphere of an old-fashioned hot-spring town surrounded by mountains and river. The greenery around it is lush, and walking here while listening to the murmur of the river gives a real sense of coolness even at the height of summer. It's just a short distance from the pool venue, making it a nice stop to round off the morning. Since the pool is waiting in the afternoon, it's more comfortable to skip bathing and just stroll around, for the sake of your energy later.

Tips

Whether day-trip bathing is available varies by facility, so check in advance if you'd like to use it. This is also a residential community, so please walk quietly and be mindful not to disturb the people who live there. There are few restaurants nearby, so it's safer to have lunch at the roadside station beforehand. There are plenty of insects in summer, so bug spray helps make the walk more comfortable.

Best time to visit

About 55 minutes. The murmur of the river and the shade of the trees keep this spot cool.
