A large prefectural forest park spreading across the hills of Hamana Ward, Hamamatsu City. The park is covered in groves of red pine and cedar, with trails winding throughout. The suspension bridge over a valley is a highlight, and kids cheer at the slight swaying sensation every time they cross it. There are also large playground structures and a grassy plaza, so families can enjoy getting active together. The air under the trees stays cool even in midsummer, letting you walk without breaking a sweat in the morning. Getting some exercise before the pool makes the water feel even better once you get in.
Tips
The park has some ups and downs, so wear comfortable walking shoes. There are mosquitoes in summer, so insect repellent will make things more comfortable. Parking is free. Shops are limited, so bring your own drinks. The pool is about a 15-minute drive away.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 30 minutes. The shady park is especially comfortable in the morning.
