This aquarium, attached to Michi-no-Eki Yayoi (道の駅やよい), mainly introduces the freshwater fish of the Bansho River (番匠川). You can observe up close the fish, crabs, and aquatic insects that live in the local river, getting to know the river world you'll be playing in later that day. The scale isn't too large, so the amount on display is just right for even small children to go around without getting bored. The roadside station also has a local-goods corner where you can rest while browsing regional specialties.
Tips
Please check opening days and admission fees in advance through Michi-no-Eki Yayoi's official information. The interior is air-conditioned, so it stays comfortable even in midsummer. Parking is shared with the roadside station and gets crowded around midday on holidays.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 20 minutes. It's comfortable to tour the indoor exhibits in the morning before it gets hot.
