The Naokawa Ikoi-no-Mori Park River Pool is a concrete-built pool filled by damming and channeling water from the Akagi River (赤木川). Unlike the river itself, the bottom is flat and the footing stable, so even children unfamiliar with water can play with peace of mind. At the same time, since the water is straight from the river, it's cold and clear, offering the refreshing feel unique to a mountain valley. Naokawa Ikoi-no-Mori Park, where the pool is located, also has the management building 'Papillon,' a 202-meter roller slide, and an Insect Museum, so there's no shortage of things to do after getting out of the water. Shower buildings with two rooms each for men and women are also available for changing, keeping the ride home comfortable. As a Saiki City park listed on the Saiki City tourism guide, it's a beloved summer staple in the area.

Tips

The river pool is officially scheduled to open on July 18 in 2026, with daily admission throughout the summer school holidays. Since the closing date has not yet been announced, check in advance if visiting after late August. Admission is 300 yen for kindergarten age and up, and showers are coin-operated at 100 yen for 5 minutes, so have small change ready. Because the pool uses river water, the temperature runs on the cooler side. Take breaks before lips turn blue, and let children warm up between play sessions. After heavy rain, the water can become muddy, so it's a good idea to call ahead if there's been a stretch of bad weather.

Best time to visit

Arriving around 1 p.m. lets you enjoy a full 3 hours of play while the sun is still out. The afternoon, when the water warms up, is recommended.
