About this spot
A temple on a hilltop in Ebina City, where the autumn leaves on its grounds can be seen during the coloring season. It is known for housing the nationally designated Important Cultural Property, the 'Wooden Standing Statue of Senju Kannon' (木造千手観音立像), but it is only unveiled on two days a year - New Year's Day and March 17. On an autumn visit, the way to enjoy it is to take in the mountain gate and the trees coloring the grounds at a leisurely pace, amid the calm atmosphere unique to a hilltop setting. It is about a 17-minute walk from the east exit of Ebina Station, making it an easy stop to add on from a walk around the Sagami Kokubunji Temple Ruins.
