About this spot

This passenger ship terminal juts out into the center of Yokohama Port, and admission is free. The rooftop plaza, affectionately nicknamed 'the whale's back,' is open 24 hours and offers one of Yokohama's best 360-degree views, taking in the Minato Mirai skyline, the Red Brick Warehouse (赤レンガ倉庫), and the Bay Bridge. Just walking across the wooden deck feels great, and it's a wonderful spot to take in the view before heading to the Red Brick Warehouse.

Tips

The rooftop is often windy, so bring an extra layer. The view of Minato Mirai at dusk from here is a classic photo spot.

Best time to visit

Just before evening — the harbor view is beautiful as the sun begins to set
