A winter illumination held at Dockyard Garden (ドックヤードガーデン), a stone dock built in the Meiji era and designated a National Important Cultural Property, adjacent to Landmark Plaza. The event runs for a long stretch each year, typically from mid-November to mid-February; last year it ran from November 11, 2025 to February 14, 2026. The dates, lighting hours, and admission fee for the 2026-27 season have not yet been announced, so please check the official website before you go. Standing at the bottom of the bowl-shaped dock offers a unique experience of being surrounded by light.

Tips

You descend to the bottom of the dock by stairs. We recommend enjoying both the view looking down from above and the view looking up from the bottom. On cold days, you can go back and forth between viewing and warming up inside Landmark Plaza.

Best time to visit

Early evening, right after the lights turn on. While the sky still holds a hint of blue, the contrast between the stone walls and the lights is at its most beautiful.
