About this spot

Japan's first permanent circulating urban ropeway, connecting the area in front of Sakuragicho Station and Unga Park in about 5 minutes. Operating hours are 10:00-21:00 (varies by day; reception may close earlier when crowded; check the official operating calendar for days off). Fares are one-way: adults (junior high school students and up) ¥1,000, children (ages 3 to elementary school) ¥500; round-trip: adults ¥1,800, children ¥900; free for children under 3. If you board from Unga Park Station in the evening, the cabin's large windows fill with the lights of the Ferris wheel and the port's night view, letting you enjoy the sky's colors as they shift from dusk to night.

Tips

Waiting times tend to get longer around sunset, so it's best to line up early. The area in front of the station will be dark after you get off, so hold your child's hand and choose well-lit streets on your way home.

Best time to visit

The magic hour around sunset. Boarding while the sky still has a hint of blue makes for the best photos.
