About this spot

The Observation Plaza at Shonan International Village, spread across the hills of Hayama Town. Known as a scenic spot where you can take in a panoramic view of Sagami Bay below, with the silhouette of Mt. Fuji visible at dusk on clear days. Since there are no large city lights on the sea side, once the sun sets, a seaside starry sky unfolds with stars lining up above the horizon. Take your time as a family to savor the moment when the afterglow of sunset turns to indigo blue and stars appear one after another.

Tips

The hilltop has little to block the wind, and it gets colder at night than on flat ground. Bring an extra layer of warm clothing, and check your footing and viewing spot while it is still light. Since there is little lighting at night, a light is essential. Please check local conditions such as parking in advance.

Best time to visit

From 30 minutes after sunset. The time when you can enjoy the transition from sunset to starry sky is the best
