勝浦町星谷にある寺で、四国霊場の番外札所として知られています。弘法大師が修行したと伝わる場所で、境内の奥には石灰岩の断崖に開いた鍾乳洞があり、細い岩の隙間を進む修行の場が今も守られています。周囲は深い山と杉木立に包まれ、川のせせらぎと鳥の声だけが響く静かな環境です。勝浦町の山あいの姿を知るには外せない場所で、午後のみかん狩りとは対照的な時間を過ごせます。
