Also known as the 'Eye of Izu,' this is a mysterious lake formed by volcanic activity. A promenade runs along the roughly 4-kilometer shoreline, letting you stroll leisurely while gazing at the quiet water's surface and lush greenery. Known as a lake where you can enjoy nature through the four seasons, its summer charm lies in the cool scenery of thick green foliage reflected on the water. You can also enjoy the view from the lake by boat, making it a spot where families can spend a relaxed time.
Tips
About 20 minutes by bus from Ito Station. Parts of the promenade have some ups and downs, so wear comfortable walking shoes. Insect repellent spray is also reassuring in summer.
Best time to visit
About 1 hour 15 minutes. The lake surface is calm in the morning, making for beautiful scenery
