かすみがうら市坂にある、天守閣のような外観が目をひく博物館です。霞ヶ浦の漁や水運、農業といった、湖とともに歩んできた地域の暮らしを紹介しています。高台に建っているため、館の周辺からは霞ヶ浦を広く見わたすことができます。午後に訪ねる果樹園の土地がどうやって果物の産地になったのかを想像しながら見ると、一日の体験がひとつにつながります。
