JR湖西線が停まる、高島市マキノ町の玄関口です。京都からも近江今津方面からも一本でアクセスでき、駅前からはマキノ高原線のコミュニティバスが出ています。マキノピックランドへはそのバスで向かい、下車すぐという分かりやすい経路です。高原方面は市街地より気温が下がるので、羽織るものを一枚用意しておくと安心です。
