熊本市西区河内町岳、金峰山を越える峠道の途中にある公園です。夏目漱石の小説にゆかりのある茶屋を復元した建物が残され、まわりは木立にかこまれた静かな休けい所になっています。峠から西を見ると、みかん畑の斜面ごしに有明海が広がります。かつては熊本の市街と天水や玉名の方面を結ぶ道が通っていた場所で、この峠を越えた先が今日の目的地です。午後の収穫の前にひと息つくのにちょうどよい立ち寄り先です。
