Hinami Coastal Scenic Day: Moai Statues of Uodo Shrine and Sun Messe Hinami with Lucky Stones and Ocean Views
A full-day seaside course through scenic Hyuga-nada along the Hinami Coast in Hinami City, Miyazaki Prefecture. Begin in the morning at Sun Messe Hinami, where Moai statues line a hilltop overlooking the Pacific, starting with a photography stroll against the blue ocean. Next, visit Uodo Shrine (鵜戸神宮), where the main sanctuary is enshrined in a cliff-side cave, and challenge yourself to throw luck stones at the turtle stone's hollow. For lunch, feast on the famous grilled bonito rice bowl and fresh seafood donburi at "Minato no Eki Meitsu" in Meitsu, the bonito town. In the afternoon, take a leisurely walk along the stone embankments of Horikawa Canal (堀川運河), which transported Obi cedar, and soak in the retro port-town atmosphere at Abutsutsu Akarenga Hall (油津赤レンガ館). An indulgent course that captures all of Hinami's charm—Moai, mythology, and port-town cuisine—in a single day.
