Ibusuki: Nagasakibana Cape, Tosenkyo Flowing Noodles, and a Walk to the Southern Tip of the Satsuma Peninsula

This is a one-day drive course exploring the southernmost tip of the Satsuma Peninsula, filled with spectacular views and famous local food. The morning starts at Nishi-Oyama Station (西大山駅), JR's southernmost station in Japan. The breathtaking view of Mt. Kaimon (開聞岳), known as Satsuma Fuji, rising beyond the platform will stir your travel spirit. At Nagasakibana (長崎鼻), home to a white lighthouse, visit Ryugu Shrine (龍宮神社), tied to the legend of Urashima Taro, and at Lake Ikeda (池田湖), Kyushu's largest caldera lake, look for Mt. Kaimon reflected on the water and the legendary monster Issie. For lunch, at Tosenkyo (唐船峡), the birthplace of rotating flowing noodles, cool off in the valley of clear spring water while enjoying somen noodles and salt-grilled trout. Finish at Surigahama (摺ヶ浜), famous for its sand steam baths, with a leisurely stroll along the steaming seaside. Enjoy a refreshing journey around the tip of the peninsula, chasing the sight of Mt.
