2026 Kikugahama Beach (菊ヶ浜海水浴場) Full-Day Course

A one-day course that stars Kikugahama Beach (菊ヶ浜海水浴場) in Hagi City (萩市), open from Saturday 18 July to Sunday 23 August 2026, while taking in the late-Edo castle town of Hagi (萩) from the morning onwards. In the morning, enjoy the stone walls of the Hagi Castle ruins (萩城跡) at Shizuki Park (指月公園) and the sea views from the keep platform, then take an unhurried walk through the white-walled Hagi castle town (萩城下町). After a fresh seafood lunch at Michi-no-Eki Hagi Seamart (道の駅 萩しーまーと), meet the history of the late Edo period at Shoin Shrine (松陰神社) and Shokasonjuku Academy (松下村塾). The climax is Kikugahama in the afternoon: a beach inside Kita-Nagato Kaigan Quasi-National Park (北長門海岸国定公園) and chosen as one of Japan's 100 finest bathing beaches (快水浴場百選), proud of its white sand and gentle waves. Swimming hours are 9:00 to 17:00 and swimming is free. Parking costs 1,000 yen per visit, but with 70 spaces you can rest easy. Pack a swimsuit and a towel and head for Hagi in summer.
