2026 Kikudzuka Beach Full-Day Experience Course
A full-day course centered on Kikudzuka Beach in Nikaho City, Akita Prefecture, operating from July 18 (Sat) through August 16 (Sun), 2026, with swimming hours from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit the countryside surrounding Kyujukushima, which retains traces of the islands that once floated in an inlet and was once called "Japan's Eastern Matsushima." Walk through the landscape and recall the Edo period. At Kaikokuji Temple, an ancient temple visited by haiku poet Matsuo Bashō, take a quiet rest in its wooded grounds. For lunch, refuel at Michi-no-Eki Kikudzuka Nemu-no-Oka, which offers views of the Sea of Japan and Mt. Chōkai from its observation room, preparing for the afternoon swim. The climax is Kikudzuka Beach in the afternoon. On an open sandy beach backed by Mt. Chōkai, enjoy everything from water play at the shoreline to sand play to the fullest. The season operates for less than a month in the first half of summer vacation, making this a rare opportunity unique to this time. A course where you can experience in one day the nature, history, and seaside charm unique to Nikaho City. Bring your swimsuit and towel and head out to the summer sea at the foot of Mt. Chōkai.
