2026 Kihoku Toro Festival: A Full-Day Course
This full-day course centers on the Kihoku Toro Festival, held around Nagashima Port in Kihoku Town, Kitamuro District, Mie Prefecture, on Saturday, July 25, 2026. At midday, savor local specialties at the Kii-Nagashima Manbo Roadside Station, where dishes made from the bounty of Kumano-nada are on offer. In the afternoon, walk Magose Pass, a highlight of the World Heritage-listed Kumano Kodo, and enjoy the stone-paved mountain trail and forest air. Extend the trip a little further to take in the crystal-clear waters of Dose Coast, then return to the Nagashima Port area in the evening for dinner and to stake out a spot for the fireworks. From 19:30 to 20:30, fireworks color the night sky over Kumano-nada. This Kihoku-only plan combines a walk along the Kumano Kodo with fireworks in a port town. It's a day to savor both a leisurely seaside stroll and fireworks in the night sky.
