2026 Tazawako Dragon God Festival: Tazawako Grand Fireworks Full-Day Course
This full-day course centers on the Tazawako Dragon God Festival's Tazawako Grand Fireworks, held at 8 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026 on the shore of Lake Tazawa in Semboku City, Akita Prefecture, and lets you fully enjoy Lake Tazawa, said to have Japan's highest water transparency. At midday, visit the golden Tatsuko Statue standing on the lakeshore and touch on the legend passed down at Lake Tazawa. Next, pay a visit to Gozanoishi Shrine, where a red torii gate stands out against the lake, and enjoy the mysterious lake scenery through a lakeside walk or a sightseeing boat. In the evening, pick up dinner and claim your spot on the lakeshore while waiting for nightfall. At 8 p.m., fireworks launch into the night sky over Lake Tazawa, and for about an hour, until 9 p.m., enjoy the fireworks' light reflected on the lake surface with your family. This is a plan unique to Lake Tazawa, combining a tour of the legendary lake with fireworks over the water as much as you like. Since the area is at a high elevation, it can get surprisingly cool at night.
