2026 Misasa Onsen Summer Fireworks Festival: A Full-Day Course
This full-day course, centered on the Misasa Onsen Summer Fireworks Festival held from 8:25 PM on Thursday, July 23, 2026, lets you enjoy Misasa Onsen, known as one of the world's finest radium hot springs, from midday onward. At noon, visit Mitokusan Sanbutsuji (三徳山三佛寺), famous for the National Treasure Nageiredo (投入堂), and touch on the history of mountain worship while viewing the hall perched on a cliff face from a distance. Next, stroll through the Misasa Onsen hot spring town and savor the nostalgic atmosphere created by its rows of old-fashioned inns. In the afternoon, visit the foot of Misasa Bridge (三朝橋) and enjoy the murmur of the Mitoku River (三徳川) alongside the scenery of the hot spring town. In the evening, pick up dinner around the hot spring town while securing a spot, and wait for dusk to fall. From 8:25 PM, fireworks light up the night sky over Misasa Onsen for about five minutes. The fireworks are a summer tradition of Misasa Onsen, held over four periods, 20 days in total: July 20 to 24, July 27 to 31, August 3 to 7, and August 17 to 21. This is a quintessential Misasa summer day plan that lets you fully enjoy both a historical walk through mountain worship and fireworks that color the hot spring town's night.
