2026 Yokogawa Summer Festival: A Full One-Day Course

This course centers on the Yokogawa Summer Festival (よこがわ夏まつり), held on Saturday, August 1, 2026, and lets you spend a full day savoring the nature and history of Yokogawa-cho in Kirishima City. At midday, visit the historic wooden station building at Osumi-Yokogawa Station (大隅横川駅) and stroll along the beautiful waterside of Maruike Spring (丸池湧水), known for its clear spring water. In the afternoon, relax along the riverbed of the Sendai River (川内川), take a break at Yokogawa Onsen (横川温泉), and in the evening, have dinner around the venue while waiting for the fireworks. At 9:00 PM, about 1,000 fireworks are launched into the night sky near Osumi-Yokogawa Station, and you can enjoy a special moment that closes out the summer festival night in Yokogawa-cho, alongside the bustle of the shopping street in front of the station.
