2026 Hassaku Festival Full-Day Arashiyama Course

The Hassaku Festival is held at Matsuo Taisha in Nishikyo Ward, Kyoto, known as the shrine of the deity of sake brewing. In 2026, the festival runs over two days, September 5-6 (Saturday-Sunday), with the bon odori dance festival starting at 7 p.m. on September 5—a summer finale festival before autumn arrives. This course focuses on September 5, the first day, enjoying Arashiyama's scenic splendor before participating in the bon odori. Start by walking through Arashiyama at Togetsukyo Bridge, experience the cool bamboo sounds along the Bamboo Grove Path. Admire the garden of UNESCO World Heritage Tenryu-ji, pay respects at Suzumi-ji Temple famous for bell cricket sounds, then at 7 p.m. join the Hassaku Festival's bon odori dance at Matsuo Taisha. A course where you experience Arashiyama's scenic beauty and Matsuo Taisha's traditions in a single day.
