
2026 Omakami Daijingu Gogo Festival One-Day Full Experience Course
A one-day full experience course centered on the Omakami Daijingu Gogo Festival (held August 9-11, 2026 for 3 days) that unfolds throughout Esashi town. At noon, pay your respects at Omakami Daijingu, reportedly one of Hokkaido's oldest spiritual places, then stroll through the traditional Inishie Kaido townscape, including the Former Nakamura Residence that tells of Esashi's prosperity. Preview the ornate festival floats that appear in the Gogo Festival at the Esashi Dashi Museum, then enjoy the sea views at Kamome Island, Esashi's symbol. Take an early dinner in town, and at 5 PM, the Gogo Festival main event begins. Ornate floats decorated with gold leaf and carvings process through the streets, enveloping the entire port town in festival atmosphere.
