Kishu Odori 《Bundara-bushi》: A Full-Day Course
This full-day course centers on the 《Kishu Odori Bundara-bushi》 (with a preliminary festival on July 31), held from 17:30 on August 1, 2026, with Wakayama Castle and its castle town as the stage. By day, tour the keep of Wakayama Castle, the symbol of Wakayama, along with the small zoo remaining on the grounds, and take on the steep stone steps of Kishu Toshogu Shrine, also known as Wakayama's Nikko. In the evening, finish an early dinner at Burakuricho Shopping Street, then head to the main event at 17:30, where dancers pour out around the castle to the sound of gongs and drums. The sight of troupes in matching costumes passing by one after another to the chant of 《Bundara-bushi》 is a signature event that closes out Wakayama's summer. The family can fully enjoy a summer day unique to Wakayama, where the castle and the dance become one.
