2026 Tokamachi Oomatsuri Full-Day Experience Course
A one-day course centered on the first day of 'Tokamachi Oomatsuri' (August 25-27, 2026), the summer festival lighting up snowy Tokamachi (held at Honmachi Street and surrounding areas in Tokamachi city). In the afternoon, visit Tokamachi City Museum to meet the Jomon-era Flame-shaped Dogū, designated a National Treasure, and learn about the wisdom and knowledge unique to snowy regions. Then head to the Echigo-Tsumari Satoyama Contemporary Art Museum MonET, where art and kimono culture thrive. Enjoy the artworks freely as a family in this quintessentially Tokamachi space. As evening falls, have an early dinner near Honmachi Street, and from 5 PM onward, the entire street becomes the festival's stage. Experience one exciting day of this vibrant summer festival, celebrated by Japan's most heavily snow-covered region.
