2026 Shimabara Oeshoro Festival One-Day Perfect Experience Course
The 'Shimabara Oeshoro Festival' held in Shimabara City, Nagasaki Prefecture, known as the 'City of Water'. In 2026, from 6 PM to around 9 PM on August 15 (Saturday), spirit boats honoring the deceased will be sent to sea at Takeshima Coast Release Site, Minato Shinchi Coast Release Site, and other locations. This course is a one-day perfect experience plan that allows you to enjoy Shimabara's spring water and castle town atmosphere from the afternoon, then experience the solemn atmosphere of the Oeshoro festival from evening onward. During the day, walk along Samurai Mansion Street where water channels flow, and enjoy the cool at Shimei-sou watching the swimming carp. Next, enjoy a panoramic view of the castle town from the pristine white Shimabara Castle, have an early dinner at Shimabara Central Shopping Street, and prepare yourself. At 6 PM, head to the coastal release sites and watch Shimabara's summer night with your family as spirit boats and firecracker sounds fill the air.
