2026 Aki Citizens' Summer Festival: A Full One-Day Course
A full-day course to enjoy the first day of the “Aki Citizens' Summer Festival” (August 1, 2026, 4:30-9:00 p.m.), which opens with a dance parade throughout the city. During the day, walk through Nora Dokei (野良時計) and Doikakuchu (土居廓中), both of which retain the atmosphere of the late Edo period, and experience history at the birthplace of Yataro Iwasaki (岩崎弥太郎), founder of the Mitsubishi conglomerate, and the ruins of Aki Castle (安芸城跡). After an early dinner at the shopping street in front of the station, head to the citywide parade starting at 4:30 p.m. Enjoy the excitement of local groups and dancers parading through the streets from the roadside. Note that the dance competition at the health and wellness center “Genkikan” and the fireworks display of about 3,000 fireworks take place the following day, August 2.
