2026 Tottori Shan-Shan Festival: A Full One-Day Course
A full-day course to enjoy the pre-festival of the “Tottori Shan-Shan Festival” (鳥取しゃんしゃん祭, August 13-15, 2026), where dancers make their umbrella bells ring as they dance. During the day, first walk through Kyusho Park (久松公園), home to the ruins of Tottori Castle, and visit Jinpukaku (仁風閣), which preserves the atmosphere of the Meiji era. After enjoying the world of nursery rhymes and toys at Warabe-kan (わらべ館), have an early dinner at the Chizu Kaido Shopping Street (智頭街道商店街). At 6:00 p.m., when the sound of bells and drums echoes across Fumon Plaza (風紋広場) in front of JR Tottori Station, the pre-festival “Suzukko Odori” (すずっこ踊り) begins in earnest, and Tottori's summer night comes alive.
