2026 Takata Matsubara Water Park (高田松原ウォーターパーク) Full-Day Course
A one-day course centred on Takata Matsubara Water Park (高田松原ウォーターパーク), a floating athletic course appearing at Takata Matsubara Beach (高田松原海水浴場) in Takata-cho, Rikuzentakata City, Iwate Prefecture, from Saturday 18 July to Sunday 16 August 2026. It opens from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and runs on a 50-minute rotation system. In the morning, first visit the Takata Matsubara Tsunami Reconstruction Memorial Park (高田松原津波復興祈念公園), which passes on the memory and lessons of the Great East Japan Earthquake, and offer a quiet prayer before the Miracle Lone Pine (奇跡の一本松). Next, stop at the Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Memorial Museum, Iwate Tsunami Memorial (東日本大震災津波伝承館・いわてTSUNAMIメモリアル), and take time to learn about the record of the disaster and the path of recovery. At midday, enjoy a meal at the Abasse Takata (アバッセたかた) commercial complex, and in the afternoon move to Takata Matsubara Beach and enter the water athletic park. Climbing and jumping across floating bridges, trampolines and slides on the sea, everyone can move their body freely until closing at 4 p.m. It is a day to enjoy active water play, quite different from ordinary sea bathing, on the beautiful shore of Rikuzentakata. With the memory of the disaster in your heart, make bright summer memories as a family.
