2026 Fountain at Kamekita Sanga Hiroba (かめきたサンガ広場) Full-Day Course
On the plaza on the north side of JR Kameoka Station there is a water-play spot you can enjoy for free: the fountain at Kamekita Sanga Hiroba (かめきたサンガ広場). During the 2026 summer holiday period, from Saturday 7/18 to Monday 8/31, it runs every day from 9:00 to 21:00; normally it runs on weekends and public holidays from late April to late November, and it is out of service from around late November to late April. The venue is Kamekita Sanga Hiroba in Kameoka City, and because the water shoots up from the ground, children can run around to their heart's content without queueing as they would for playground equipment. The illumination starts at 18:00, and the way the water looks after dark is a pleasure unique to this fountain. It is free, and its location right outside the station means you can plan it as a day out close to home done entirely by train. In the morning you touch on the history of Tanba and Kameoka at the Kameoka City Museum of Culture, and at lunch you enjoy local ingredients at Galleria Kameoka, which doubles as a roadside station. In the afternoon, take in Sanga Stadium by KYOCERA next to the plaza, then head to the fountain. Play until evening and wait for the illumination, and the close of the day will stay with you. Being able to play in the cool hours around sunset is a strength only this plaza has, since it runs until 21:00.
