2026 Yachidamo Park Water Play Area: A Full Day Course

Tucked quietly into a residential area between Maruyama and Odori, Yachidamo Park is an everyday open space where local children spend their summers. The shallow water play area inside, the Yachidamo Park Water Play Area, is open from Monday, June 29 to Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 10:00 to 16:00, and admission is free. The water is shallow enough for toddlers who have just started walking to dip their feet in and play, so it suits a first water play experience. For this day we built the plan around tracing the history of Sapporo as a stage for the Winter Olympics and then finishing with water play. In the morning, head up to Okurayama Ski Jump Stadium and look down over the city of Sapporo from the top of the jump hill after riding the lift. At the adjoining Sapporo Olympic Museum, children are sure to be absorbed by the hands-on exhibits that let them try the sports. At lunchtime, move to Maruyama Park and spread out a picnic in the shade, and in the afternoon change into swimwear and head for Yachidamo Park. It is a course only Sapporo could offer, linking mountain, city and waterside in a single day.
