2026 Ishikari Fureai no Mori Park Wading Pool: A Full Day Out
A free one-day course built around the Ishikari Fureai no Mori Park Wading Pool in Hanakawa, Ishikari City. In 2026 it is open from Monday 15 June to Tuesday 15 September, from 10:00 to 16:00, extended to 9:00 to 18:00 during the summer holidays of the city's elementary schools. Note, though, that it closes every Thursday for cleaning, so do check the day of the week. Alongside the shallow wading pool with its fountain and flowing stream, there is a large net play structure, a lawn, flower beds, toilets and a car park, a line-up complete enough that you will not run out of things to do all day. In the morning, enjoy quiet time at Ishikari City Library (石狩市民図書館), a short walk away, browsing shelves of picture books and illustrated guides. For lunch, move to the Sato Suisan Salmon Factory (佐藤水産) near Ishikari Bay New Port (石狩湾新港), watch the salmon processing and then taste salmon dishes unique to Ishikari. Then, in the afternoon, comes the Ishikari Fureai no Mori Park Wading Pool, for splashing about until closing at 16:00. The course links the character of Ishikari as a salmon town with a park where children can play their hearts out, all in a single day.
