2026 Wakakusa Park Landscape Waterway (若草公園 修景水路): Full-Day Course
At Wakakusa Park (若草公園), in a residential area of Kita Ward, Sapporo, a shallow channel begins to flow once summer arrives. The Wakakusa Park Landscape Waterway (若草公園 修景水路) is open in 2026 from Sunday, July 5 to Sunday, August 23, from 9:00 to 16:00, and it is free to use. The water is only ankle-deep, so even small children who are afraid of water can get used to it at their own pace. As a playground for the children of the neighborhood there are no crowds, and being free of lines and waiting is what makes this waterway so good. This itinerary is built to trace Sapporo's greenery and industry first and then head to the water. The morning goes to the poplar avenue at Hokkaido University. This row of trees rising straight into the sky is one of Sapporo's signature sights, and in summer the thick foliage casts cool shade. Then touch on the city's industrial history at the red-brick Sapporo Beer Museum and finish lunch and shopping at the adjacent Ario Sapporo. In the afternoon, change into swimwear and go to Wakakusa Park. Because the season can shift with the weather, check the opening status for the day before you set out.
