2026 Aoba-no-Mori Prefectural Park Water Plaza: A Full Day of Fun
This course spends a full day playing close to home, built around the free water-play area called the Aoba-no-Mori Prefectural Park Water Plaza in Aoba-no-Mori Prefectural Park, Chuo Ward, Chiba City. In 2026 it is open from Saturday, June 20 to Sunday, August 16, from 10:00 to 16:00. In June it opens only on weekends (June 20, 21, 27, 28), and in early July also only on weekends (July 4, 5, 11, 12); from July 14 onward it opens daily. It is closed on Mondays (July 13, July 21, July 27, August 3, August 10) and also closes in bad weather, so checking the forecast before you set out is reassuring. Admission is free, so you can also just drop in for a short while. There are no changing rooms or showers, but there are restrooms and a paid parking lot in the park. In the morning, take your time viewing the nature and history of Boso at the Chiba Prefectural Chuo Museum (千葉県立中央博物館) and the Ecology Park (生態園) within the same park. For lunch, eat well at Ario Soga a few minutes away by car, and in the afternoon it is finally time to splash around at the Water Plaza. Because it combines indoor and outdoor time, you can get through the day without overspending your energy even in midsummer.
