2026 Kameyama Park Seseragi Waterway Full-Day Course

A one-day course built around the Kameyama Park Seseragi Waterway in Kameyama Park (亀山公園) in Nakanoshima-cho, Hita City, letting you taste summer in the former shogunate territory of Hita. The waterway is open from Wednesday, July 1 to Monday, August 31; the official Hita City page states: waterway opening notice, period from July 1 to August 31. Kameyama Park is centered on Mount Hinokuma (日隈山) along the Mikuma River (三隈川), part of the Chikugo River (筑後川) system, and a shallow waterway where children can play has been laid out among trees where the river breeze passes through. There are a slide and swings too, so the play continues even after the children come out of the water. The western side of the park is known for its cherry blossoms, and in summer it becomes a pleasant place of deep green shade. In the morning, walk the white-walled townscape of Mameda-machi (豆田町), which still bears traces of the Edo-period shogunate territory, and browse the sweets and souvenirs that Hita does so well. Take lunch in town, then in the afternoon visit the Hita Gion Yamahoko Hall (日田祇園山鉾会館), where you can see the festival floats of the Hita Gion festival up close. It is a way of spending the day that only Hita offers, enjoying both the water and the town walk until evening. No admission fee is listed; it is a summer playground that local families visit freely.
