2026 Atagoyama Owl Park Water Play Area - Full Day Course
A full day course that pairs the Water Play Area at Atagoyama Owl Park in Iwakuni City with the famous sights around Kintaikyo Bridge (錦帯橋). The water play area is a free spot with fountains and mist to play in, and it is clearly marked on the official Iwakuni City guide map as Water Park. The park itself stands out for how much it offers: a large owl-themed combination playset, an inclusive playground area where everyone can play together, a 995 square metre covered plaza, an outdoor stage and a 1.5 hectare lawn. Thanks to the covered plaza, families can switch play areas on days with strong sun or in sudden rain, which is very reassuring. The operating period and hours are not published by the city, so before you set out please contact the Iwakuni City Park Facilities Division (0827-29-5160) to check. In the morning, cross Kintaikyo Bridge (錦帯橋), see the Iwakuni White Snake, a designated national natural monument, and have lunch on the lawn at Kikko Park (吉香公園). In the afternoon head to the park and play to your heart's content in the fountains and mist until evening. Note that a redback spider was found in the park on 24 July 2026 and the city is warning visitors not to touch them with bare hands. Telling children about this before they play is reassuring.
