2026 Benikko Hiroba Chapu-Chapu Hiroba (べにっこひろば ちゃぷちゃぷひろば) Full-Day Course

This is a course for a full day of play close to home, starring the Chapu-Chapu Hiroba fountain (べにっこひろば ちゃぷちゃぷひろば(噴水)) in the outdoor facilities of the Yamagata City children's play facility Benikko Hiroba (べにっこひろば). The city's official information says only that the Chapu-Chapu Hiroba fountain runs in summer, and the operating period has not been announced, so be sure to check whether it is running before you set out. The outdoor facilities are open from 9:00 to 19:00 and closed on the second Thursday of each month and on January 1. Outdoors you will also find the inflatable Fuwafuwa Dome, a roller slide, the Charinji Hiroba bicycle practice area and a sandpit, so you can move between water play and playground equipment. The Paku-Paku Hiroba eating corner and a childcare support center are attached as well, which is reassuring when you have a baby along. If you use only the outdoor facilities there is no admission fee, so you can drop in on a whim. In the morning, take your time looking around Bunshokan (文翔館), the restored former prefectural office building, and enjoy Yamagata's modern architecture. At midday, savor local ingredients and the atmosphere of the farm-direct corner at Yamagata Marugoto-kan Beni no Kura (山形まるごと館 紅の蔵), housed in a traditional storehouse. In the afternoon, move on to Benikko Hiroba and play to your heart's content in the fountain spray until evening.
