2026 Tsuruoka Park Ninomaru Plaza Water Play Area - Full Day Course

A one-day course walking around the castle town, starring the Tsuruoka Park Ninomaru Plaza water play area (floor fountain) at Ninomaru Plaza in Tsuruoka Park (鶴岡公園) in Tsuruoka City, on the approach-path side. It runs from Friday 3 July 2026 to Sunday 30 August 2026, from 9:00 to 18:00. From 13 to 16 August the hours are extended to 21:00, and they are also extended when an event is held at Ninomaru Plaza. The 5.4 m by 4.5 m floor fountain is motion-sensor operated and stops after about 30 seconds once no one is nearby. It is surrounded by a 90 cm wide artificial-turf mat, and to prevent injuries children may play with sandals on, which is a relief for families with small children. With a simple changing room, benches and the arbour in Ninomaru Plaza, there is no trouble finding a place to change or rest. Use is free. In the morning, take in the atmosphere of a domain school at the former Shonai Domain School Chido-kan, then look closely at Shonai architecture and folk tools at the Chido Museum (致道博物館). At lunchtime, taste Shonai ingredients at the Tsuruoka City Tourism and Products Hall and browse the farm stand. In the afternoon, return to Tsuruoka Park and play at the floor fountain surrounded by the greenery of the castle site until evening.
