2026 Kokei Irrigation Plaza Fountain & Mist: A Full-Day Course
This is a full-day local outing course starring the Kokei Irrigation Plaza Fountain & Mist (虎渓用水広場 噴水・ミスト) in the North Plaza of Tajimi Station in Tajimi City. The fountain and mist operate from June 1 to September 30, 2026, between 9:00 and 19:00. Water shoots up from nine openings in a variety of patterns, so children love running around guessing where the next jet will appear. Admission is free, and because it is right outside the north exit of Tajimi Station, it is easy to reach by train or by car, which is a major appeal. There is also a lawn area, so you can lie down and dry off after getting wet. Spend the morning at Kokeizan Eihoji Temple (虎渓山永保寺), a quiet Zen temple with the National Treasure Kannon Hall and Founder's Hall, where the bridge over the pond and the garden view form one of Tajimi's most representative scenes. At midday, move to Honmachi Oribe Street (本町オリベストリート) and have lunch while browsing shops that handle Mino ware. This street, unique to a pottery town, makes for an enjoyable detour for adults too. Since the days are long in this season, it is best to wrap up at the fountain once the air begins to cool.
