2026 Takamatsu Park Splash Pool Full-Day Course
This course packs a full day of play into one neighborhood, starring the Takamatsu Park Splash Pool at Takamatsu Park (Takamatsu Pond) in Morioka City (盛岡市). The splash pool is a man-made pool for children, open only in summer from around July to September. At about 20 cm at its deepest, it is shallow enough that even children who have just started walking can get in safely. Use is free, and after the water play you can take a break at the equipment in the adjoining children's playground area, the Fureai Harappa meadow, or the roofed multipurpose outdoor plaza. It sits on the shore of Takamatsu Pond, known for its cherry blossoms and swans, and with a boat dock, a rose garden and a peony garden, and Sukoyaka Forest lined with fitness equipment, adults can also spend a relaxed day here, which is the strength of Takamatsu Park. The exact start and end dates for 2026 have not been officially announced, so check the operating status with the Morioka City park information before you set out. In the morning, buy the koppepan rolls Morioka is famous for and walk along the stone walls of Morioka Castle Ruins Park (盛岡城跡公園) to take in the air of the old castle town. At midday, move to Takamatsu Park for a picnic on the lawn, and in the afternoon it is finally time to send the water flying. It is easy to reach from the city center by car or by local bus, making it a classic Morioka summer outing you can take on a whim.
