2026 Midorimachi Park Waterside Plaza (緑町公園 親水広場) Full-Day Course
The Midorimachi Park Waterside Plaza (緑町公園 親水広場), a fountain facility in Midorimachi Park in Fukuyama City, is a downtown water-play spot that in most years operates from Thursday, May 14 to Wednesday, September 30, between 10:00 and 17:00. About every ten minutes, mist and water droplets shoot out in time with music; it is fun just to watch, and if you run in you will be soaked from head to toe. Admission is free. It is within walking distance of Fukuyama Station, so it is easy to visit by train or by car, and that is a big part of its appeal. It runs not only through summer but from spring into autumn, so you can pick a comfortable day outside the peak heat. This one-day course starts at Fukuyama Castle (福山城), one of Japan's Top 100 Castles. After touring the grounds where the keep has been brought back to life, head to the Fukuyama Automobile and Clock Museum (福山自動車時計博物館), lined with cars and clocks you can actually board and touch. Have an unhurried lunch at Sansute Fukuyama, the station building at Fukuyama Station, and in the afternoon let the water that bursts out in time with the music soak you at the Midorimachi Park Waterside Plaza. It is a course only Fukuyama can offer, linking a town walk and water play in a single day.
