2026 Tsutamigawa River Pool One-Day Full Course
This is a one-day course centered on the Tsutamigawa River Pool, open from Saturday, July 18 through Monday, August 24, 2026. The venue is Yabakei-machi, Nakatsu City, Oita Prefecture. This river pool uses the water of the Tsutami River, which flows through the mountains, as it is, and is split into a 25-meter pool for swimming and a shallow pool for small children with a slide. It's a nice touch that siblings of different ages can each play at the depth suited to them. Following flood damage in fiscal 2023, repair work was carried out, and the pool has since reopened. It is managed by the Nakatsu City Yabakei Branch Office, and admission is free. In the morning, visit Ao no Domon, a highlight of the scenic Yabakei area, then have Yabakei soba for lunch at the roadside station. In the afternoon, take in the spectacular view of striking rock formations at Hitomehakkei in Shin-Yabakei, then head to the river while the sun is still up. Mountains, gorges, and clear streams all in one day — a very Yabakei way to spend the summer.
