2026 Nakajima Park River Pool One-Day Adventure Course
This one-day course centers on Nakajima Park River Pool in Iruta, Taketa City, which opens from Sunday, July 19 to Sunday, September 6 in Reiwa 8 (2026). Located right next to Kawauda Spring, the highest-volume spring among the Taketa Springs, one of Japan's Top 100 Famous Waters, this river pool was built to make the most of the natural terrain. It has a flowing-water slide fed by spring water and a toddler pool, so kids from their very first splash in the water up through elementary schoolers can play together. There are changing rooms on the midstream sandbar, and parking for 113 vehicles (including 5 spots for mid-size buses and visitors with disabilities). Admission is free; parking costs 500 yen for cars and 200 yen for motorcycles. In the morning, walk the stone walls of Oka Castle Ruins, a nationally designated historic site, and experience the old Taketa townscape along the samurai residence street of the castle town. At lunchtime, enjoy local flavors at Michi-no-Eki Taketa, then in the afternoon draw some spring water before heading to the river pool. It's a summer day spent surprised by the chill of the spring water, playing in the water until evening, an outing where you can experience the clear waters of Taketa, the land of famous springs, with all five senses.
